My Aunt Amy made this for me one night when I was staying at her house. It was so different and so good, I couldn’t stop eating it… Lets just say I had to lay down for a long time after that meal. Its one of those meals that will make you happy while eating as well as full. Since that meal, I have been playing around with her recipe and came up with this version.
This meal it a easy one to make! For all you moms out there with only 30 minutes to make dinner, have this one close by for one of those nights! Shrimp tossed in BBQ sauce with sausage and cheese grits… you can’t make it more southern than that! I hope this is something you are willing to try! Sausage, ground- 8 oz
BBQ sauce- 1/4 cup
Grill Masters Smoke House Maple- 1 tsp & 1/4 tsp
Butter- 1 Tablespoon
Cheese- Cheddar, 8oz Shredded
Prep: Chop green onion and shred cheddar cheese ( or buy shredded !)
Cook Grits according to directions on bag. Mine usually calls for 1 cup grits to 4 cups water. Boil water with a pinch of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of butter. Add grits and cook according to directions.
Cook shrimp in a pan of boiling water with 1 tsp of Grill Masters Smoke House Maple and a pinch of salt. Boil shrimp for only 3-4 minutes. Let cool, run cold water over them and peel if you haven’t already.
Add shredded cheddar cheese to grits and allow to melt while stirring, once melted, add 1/2 tablespoon of butter and stir. (I only had cheese sticks so I cubed them up and stirred them in to melt… Sometimes you just have to improvise)
